Dead Air is well known for innovation and excellent suppressor performance. They offer a wide variety of suppressors for just about any use under the sun. One of their newest suppressors takes Dead Air into a new territory. The new CT5P is a suppressor primarily designed for law enforcement use.

Patrol Rifle Ready – Dead Air’s First Law Enforcement Centered Design

The three primary pillars of this can are excellent sound suppression, flash mitigation, and simplicity of mounting. Add to that its lightweight design and back pressure reduction, and the CT5P becomes the ultimate patrol rifle suppressor.

One of the primary design features law enforcement looks for is an attach-and-forget design. While the civilian market enjoys moving our suppressors from rifle to rifle, in law enforcement, a suppressor will generally live its life on one single rifle. Dead Air offers this suppressor as a direct thread or utilizing their Keymo or Xeno mounting options. With each of those, however, the mounting system is built inside the suppressor.

Low Back Pressure

The low back pressure on the suppressor is more than just about reducing gas in the operator’s face. Keeping back pressure low helps with general rifle maintenance. The low-backpressure design makes it easier on the agency armorer during gun maintenance.

Dead Air engineered the CT5P to achieve a low overall sound pressure level and a tone well below OSHA’s 1910.95 standard for impulse noise, without substantially increasing gas in the face. Reducing gas and improving sound reduction are important to every operator, as they enable clearer communication and better threat differentiation.

Flash Reduction

Another point that they are focused on is flash mitigation. For the average civilian shooter, this may not seem like a major point. However, law enforcement, especially tactical operators working in dim areas, flash control is very important. The CT5P is excellent on NATO-chambered rifles with barrel lengths as short as 10.5 inches, preserving the operator’s night vision. The functional aesthetics of the CT5P provide more surface area on the outside of the suppressor, thereby releasing more heat over time and minimizing light reflectivity. The CT5P reduces the muzzle flash and spark to a near undetectable level for 5.56.

Caliber-rated for full auto in 5.56 NATO and 6mm ARC rifles with no minimum barrel restrictions, the CT5P weighs 13.0 oz. in its direct-thread configuration and measures 5.5 x 1.6 inches. The unit comes in a black or FDE high-temp Cerakote finish and includes a fixed 1/2-28 direct-thread mount and a TL001 installation tool.

5.56 Plus

The CT5P is primarily designed for 5.56mm rounds, but it has a 6mm bore size. This allows shooters and agencies in general to use a wider variety of ammunition.

CT5P Tested

I have had the opportunity to run this suppressor on multiple rifles. Most recently, I got to shoot it extensively at the Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous. What I found was that the suppressor performed extremely well. Its relatively lightweight design, combined with its performance, makes it an exceptional suppressor for both law enforcement and civilian use.
